The Magic of Anticipation

Here’s a tip that I hope makes your Sextember even more special!

It was my turn to plan our date night, and I was really looking forward to it.

I had everything lined up—a casual dinner followed by Top Golf with friends. But I didn’t stop there. I wanted to make it extra fun, so I created a flirty digital invite (thanks to Canva) and sent it to my wife. The moment I hit send, the excitement started building—for both of us. It wasn’t just about the date itself; it was about the anticipation, the buildup, that made it feel so special.

This is the magic of anticipation. When it comes to intimacy in marriage, anticipation is your secret weapon to keeping things exciting. It’s not only about what happens in the moment, but about how you set the stage.

Think about Christmas—it’s the perfect example of anticipation! The holiday season isn’t just about what happens on December 25th. The weeks leading up to it are filled with decorations, festive outfits, holiday music, and the excitement of counting down the days. All of these little things stir up the joy and wonder, making Christmas Day feel like the culmination of something magical. Preparing for Christmas is just as fun as Christmas Day itself!

You can create that same magic in your relationship by being intentional about building anticipation. Some couples find that scheduling date nights or even intimacy gives them something to look forward to, something to get excited about.

And here’s why it’s so powerful: sex isn’t just something you *do*—it’s a place you *go*. It takes mental effort to prepare for it. So when you add anticipation into the mix, it’s like decorating that “place” with excitement, turning it into something even more meaningful.

Setting the stage can be simple but impactful. It could be a playful text during the day or even sending a fun invite like I did. It’s all about creating that sense of “I can’t wait” long before you’re physically together.

So, just like how Christmas is more than the gifts—it’s the build-up, the shared experiences, and the joy of anticipation—your intimacy deserves the same care and excitement. Let anticipation be the key to keeping the spark alive, making your time together something you both eagerly look forward to.
