Over two and a half years ago, my wife Emily and I realized we needed more information to strengthen our marriage, specifically in the bedroom department. We didn’t know where to turn for good and helpful information at first, so we held on tight to each other, took a deep breath, and explored what felt like a minefield together.
The journey is incredible and the outcome priceless already. Over a stretch of a few months we learned a lot more about each other than we thought was possible. We had many conversations night after night going into 1 and 2 am in the morning! There were definitely growing pains too — there were habits we both overcame and hard adjustments to our thinking. Our communication and intimate relationship blossomed. The spill-over effect caused all other areas of our life to blossom too.
Last year Emily and I, along with our friend Tamara Foster, decided to put on a marriage conference. I guess you can call it an Adult Eagle Scout Project. ? People said two introverts putting on and funding an event out of pocket was risky, but after seeing over 550 people from our community come, we witnessed the positive impact an event like this could make. We knew we wanted to do it again!
We called the event Get Your Marriage On!
On November 16 2019 we’ll hold our second annual upbeat & fun date night event for married couples. It’s going to be bigger and better than last year. Here’s why:
We’re bringing in top notch speakers & presenters and putting on a fun & upbeat program. At this event those attending will learn from marriage experts about:
- Building a strong emotional connection with Dr. Debi Gilmore
- Healthy sexuality in marriage with Laura M. Brotherson
- Happy Hacks in marriage from Dr. Dave Schramm
- Building Trust & Love from Melanie Studley and Seth Studley
- Love Languages from Elizabeth Davis
- Putting the spark and fun back into your marriage with Sheila Wray Gregoire
This event will be fun. NOT BORING. This isn’t Sunday School. We’re going to talk about real, tough, and even spicy topics and have fun doing it!
There’s music, dessert, and a photo booth. This year we’re giving away some awesome prizes too, including a Cruise to a lucky couple ?
It’s a “date night” format starting at 6pm at the Dixie Convention Center on November 16.
But wait, there’s more!
We’re throwing an Adult Prom ??the night before on the 15th. Isn’t that cute? Doesn’t every women deserve to go to the prom with her husband? The Prom is at Cotton Town Village’s Dance Hall in Washington, from 7 to 10pm. There’s no additional charge for the prom (it’s included in the cost of the ticket).
Our goal is to strengthen marriages in our area. Strong marriages lead to strong families. Strong families build a strong community.
The tickets are $99 per couple if you get them before November 8 and include everything. After that it goes up to $129 per couple, which is still a great deal.
Just the other day I bumped into someone that went to the event last year. He told me that the info he and his wife learned about immediate & urgent needs made a big impact on how they treat each other. He also talked about how he & his wife have fewer conflicts, and their sex life is better and happier than ever because of the things they learned at the event. Moments like these make all the effort and planning worth it. ?
